If you're like most progressive business leaders, you already have a system to capture customer feedback. After all, most businesses (95% by some estimates) are gathering comments from customers. Only 41% of them, however, actually use that data to drive change in their business, according to a study conducted by CDC respond. Don't let your hard work go to waste—let your customers' thoughts inform your business, and they'll be more likely to advocate for your brand.

Here are three ways to use positive customer feedback and recommendations to increase sales.

  1. Create a testimonial section.

You know you do good work. So do your customers. Potential customers are a different story. Give the impression that your company does excellent work by adding a testimonial section to your website or store. All the marketing and advertising in the world isn't as powerful as an honest, thorough recommendation— just ask any author on Amazon. Let your current customers attract new customers by posting their compliments to your site.

  1. Reward current customers for bringing new customers.

Research tells us that word-of-mouth recommendations are the best way to attract new customers. Furthermore, PeopleMetrics research indicates that customers who choose a company due to a personal recommendation are more likely to be fully engaged customers later on. In other words, customers who come to you through the recommendation of a friend will be more emotionally committed to your brand, and are more likely to bring you even more clients. Reward your best customers' advocacy efforts by providing an incentive, such as a store credit or discount for bringing in new customers.

  1. Let your customers tell you what to keep and where to go next.

Positive feedback is a strong indicator that your company is doing something right. Listen to your customers and preserve products and features they love. As SightSpeed co-founder and CTO Aron Rosenberg explains above, your customers are your best source for ideas and innovations. They will tell you what they want to see and how you can improve the products they already enjoy.
