The Golden Rule of Customer Experience is this: Do unto your employees as you would have them do unto your customers.

In other words…

  • If you want to care for your customers, care for your employees.

  • If you want customers to feel valued, value your employees.

  • If you want customers to trust your company, trust your employees.

  • If you want a memorable external brand, invest in a memorable internal brand.

  • If you want customers to feel like they’re number one, make employees feel like they’re number one.

  • If you want employees to go above and beyond for customers, go above and beyond for your employees.

  • If you want to listen to customers, listen to your employees.

  • If you want to make it easy for customers, make it easy for employees.

  • If you want employees to deliver genuine customer service, be genuine with your employees.

  • If you want employees to get to know the customer, get to know your employees.

This isn’t an HR thing. This is a marketing thing. If you want your employees to sell your brand, you have to first sell your brand to employees.
